Out in the Night: a documentary following the New Jersey Four

On Truthout:

Out in the Night moves beyond the court case and fear-mongering headlines to examine the lives of each of the women as individual people with families and community connections. Filmmaker Blair Doroshwalther interviews Renata and Terrain about their friendship and coming out to their families. Patreese’s siblings are also interviewed. All four women’s families were accepting of their sexual orientation, but they note, people on the streets of Newark were not.

The forgotten history of Rosie the LGBT riveter

On Newsweek:

World War II has long been viewed by historians as an important moment in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) history in America. During the war years, millions of young men left their homes and small towns for the military, living in a same-sex environment where they were exposed to a greater variety and volume of people than they had previously known. Women also left their homes, to work in factories and live in same-sex settings under similar conditions.

The National Parks Service has the official call.
